Product of the Year Awards Criteria

 

Toy of the Year Award

The 2009 Toy of the Year Award will be selected from the winners of the following six (6) categories:

• Boys

• Pre-School

• Girls

• Craft & Activity

• Outdoor

• Games

Criteria

• Must be new product first released in Australia in 2009.

• Maximum of two entries per category per exhibitor.

• Entry must be an individual product (assortments accepted).

• Only exhibitors at Toy Fair may submit entries.

• Outdoor to include Wheel Toys and Leisure products.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use three (3) criteria in judging for the Awards: Uniqueness/Innovativeness, Play Appeal and Sales Potential.

 

Hobby Product of the Year Award

Criteria

• Must be new product first released in Australia in 2009.

• Maximum of two entries per exhibitor.

• Entry must be an individual product (assortments accepted).

• Only exhibitors at Toy Fair may submit entries.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use three (3) criteria in judging for the Hobby Product of the Year Award:
Uniqueness/Innovativeness, Play Value and Sales Potential.

 

Educational Toy of the Year Award

For the purposes of this award an educational toy refers to Educational games and learning toys that are used as props to enhance a child’s development and IQ e.g. memory retention, reading skills, hand eye coordination and math skills.

Criteria

• Must be new product first released in Australia in 2009.

• Maximum of two entries per exhibitor.

• Entry must be an individual product (assortments accepted).

• Only exhibitors at Toy Fair may submit entries.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use three (3) criteria in judging for the Educational Toy of the Year Award:
Uniqueness/Innovativeness, Educational Value and Sales Potential.

 

Nursery Product of the Year Award

For the purposes of this award nursery product refers to all nursery related items excluding toys. Nursery toys are to be nominated under the pre school category.

Criteria

• Must be new product first released in Australia in 2009.

• Maximum of two entries per exhibitor.

• Entry must be an individual product (assortments accepted).

• Only exhibitors at Toy Fair may submit entries.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use two (2) criteria in judging for the Nursery Product of the Year Award:
Uniqueness/Innovativeness and Sales Potential.

 

Australian Development Award

A separate Australian Development Award will be judged from ALL entries received that have elected to be entered into the Australian Development Award.

Criteria

The adjudication of the Australian Development Award is based on the following adjudication criteria:

• 75% or more Australian made content or

• 100% Australian designed.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use three (3) criteria in judging for the Australian Development Product of the Year Award: Uniqueness/Innovativeness, Play Value and Sales Potential.

 

Licensed Product of the Year Award

Licensing refers to a business arrangement in which the firm with proprietary rights over certain technology, trademarks, etc grants permission to some other group or company to manufacture or distribute that product (or make use of that proprietary material) in return for specified royalties or other payment. A branded product is not necessarily a licensed product.
The 2009 Licensed Product of the Year Award will be selected from the winners of the following

three (3) categories:

• Boys Licensed Product

• Girls Licensed Product

• Pre-School Licensed Product

Criteria

• Must be new licensed product first released in Australia in 2009.

• Maximum of two entries per category per distributor.

• Entry must be an individual product (assortments accepted).

• Only distributors who are exhibitors at Toy Fair may submit entries.

Judging Criteria

The judges will use three (3) criteria in judging for the License Product of the Year Award: License Applied Creatively within the License Core Values, Play Value and Sales Potential of the Licensed Product.
